Vol. 411 No. 1

Written Answers. - Mulcair (County Limerick) Drainage Scheme.

Peadar Clohessy

Question:

198 Mr. Clohessy asked the Minister for Finance the current position with regard to the Mulcair drainage system in the east Limerick area.

A preliminary design of a drainage scheme for the Mulcair river catchment in counties Limerick and Tipperary has been prepared. Specialist studies required in connection with the environmental impact assessment and cost-benefit analysis of the scheme, which are ongoing at present, are expected to be completed by spring 1992. Pending consideration of the outcome of the environmental impact assessment and cost-benefit analysis it is not possible to say if or when a scheme for the Mulcair river catchment might commence.
