Vol. 411 No. 2

Written Answers. - Employment Appeals Tribunal Award.

Toddy O'Sullivan

Question:

46 Mr. T. O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Labour when legal proceedings will commence to recover payment of an award in a person's favour (details supplied) in Cork by the Employment Appeals Tribunal, under the Minimum Notice and Terms of Employment Act, 1973.

Following failure by the employer concerned to pay the award made by the Employment Appeals Tribunal under the Minimum Notice and Terms of Employment Act, 1973, the employee referred the matter to my Department. Under section 12 (3) of the Act the Minister for Labour is empowered to institute proceedings for the recovery of such sums. The case has been referred to the Chief State Solicitor's Office for consideration as to the institution of legal proceedings. My Department will be in contact with the employee as developments arise in the case.
