Question:

57 Mr. Harte asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline (1) the number of local authority houses built in County Donegal in each year since 1970 and (2) the number to be built in 1991.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 56 and 57 together.

I refer the Deputy to the reply to Question No. 229 of 24 October 1990 in relation to the number of local authority houses built in County Donegal and to the reply to Question No. 218 of 19 April 1988 in relation to Buncrana and Letterkenny for the period 1980-87. The numbers of local authority houses completed in Buncrana and Letterkenny in the years 1988 to 1990 are as follows:

Year

Buncrana Urban District Council

Letterkenny Urban District Council

1988

5

1989

1990

15

At this stage, details of the number of local authority houses built in Buncrana and Letterkenny each year from 1970 to 1979 are not readily available. The numbers are included, however, in the figures for County Donegal for those years.
In 1991 the number of houses authorised for commencement in County Donegal was 117, of which 17 relate to Letterkenny.
