70 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education if the maintenance portion of a higher education grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kildare; if so, when; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
The administration of the higher education grants scheme is statutorily entrusted to the local authorities.
I understand from Kildare County Council that the person in question has been notified of his entitlement under the scheme.
The maintenance grant is paid by the local authority in three equal instalments, as early as possible in each term. The individual paying orders are addressed to the grant-holders c/o the bursar's office of the university or other educational institution (in this case UCD).
