Vol. 411 No. 6

Written Answers. - Mentally Handicapped Services.

Michael Ferris

Question:

46 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for Health if he will outline the response which he has given to parents of the mentally handicapped when they visited his offices earlier this year; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I would like to refer the Deputy to my response to Questions Nos. 26,27,64,65 and 74 of 12 June 1991 which dealt with this matter.

Officials of my Department meet with the officials of the Eastern Health Board on a regular basis to consider the needs of people with mental handicap and all are very conscious of the concerns of parents and families. Every effort is being made to meet the needs of families from the resources available.
