Vol. 411 No. 6

Written Answers. - Psychiatric Nurse Appointments.

Pearse Wyse

Question:

74 Mr. Wyse asked the Minister for Health the number of permanent psychiatric nurse appointments which were made in the Southern Health Board for each year from 1986 to 1989.

The information requested by the Deputy is as follows:

Year

Number of Psychiatric Nurses Appointed

1986

53

1987

6

1988

Nil

1989

Nil

These vacancies arose in the main from retirements on age grounds and also from staff who availed of career breaks.
I might add that in 1990 — 48 such appointments were made, whilst to date in 1991 — 17 such appointments have been made.
