Vol. 411 No. 6

Written Answers. - Disease Free Status.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

111 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to the fact that in the course of land acquisition in respect of the N4 by-pass, a person (details supplied) in County Kildare is being forced to share a common accommodation road with a neighbouring landowner, resulting in loss of disease free status in the event of an outbreak in either herd and if he will consider the provision of two separated roadways in this instance or intercede with his colleague the Minister for Agriculture and Food to allow separate disease status to prevail in the event of a disease outbreak in one herd only.

The acquisition of the land in question is now the subject of arbitration proceedings initiated by the owner. Pending the outcome, I cannot make any comment on this matter.
