Vol. 411 No. 7

Written Answers. - Land Commission Staff.

Austin Deasy

Question:

129 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he has satisfied himself that his Department have sufficiently retained the expertise of staff previously employed in the Land Commission in order to deal with the applications which pertain to previous functions carried out by the commission; if, in particular, he will examine an application submitted on behalf of a person (details supplied) in County Wexford on 12 November 1990 under section 14 of the Land Act, 1931; and if he will ensure that it is dealt with as a matter of urgency.

I am satisfied that sufficient staff have been retained in my Department to carry out the continuing functions of the Land Commission. However, the transfer of the commission to Cavan last year inevitably led to a certain disruption of the work.

The office is now fully operational and every effort will be made to deal with this application as quickly as possible.
