Vol. 411 No. 7

Written Answers. - Influenza Vaccines.

Bernard Allen

Question:

177 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health if he will give an assurance that there are sufficient supplies of 'flu vaccines available to meet the demands in the current year.

My Department was in contact with the health boards earlier his year reminding them of the need to ensure that they have sufficient influenza vaccine in stock. The health boards, having done an assessment of their requirements, individually notified the Eastern Health Board who co-ordinated matters and arranged for central purchasing. I have been assured that there is sufficient supply in stock to meet demands. The Eastern Health Board have contingency arrangements in hand for the delivery of additional supplies should any shortfall be evident due to unforeseen circumstances.
