240 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications if he will outline the position in relation to the restructuring of the air traffic control services from within his Department to a semi-State body; and whether it is intended to privatise this new venture.
The air traffic control service is part of the Air Navigation Services Office (ANSO) of my Department. On 30 July 1991, I announced the proposed establishment of a semi-State body to replace ANSO. Preparatory work on the drawing up of the necessary legislation is in hand and it is my intention to introduce a draft Bill to the House early in the next Dáil session.
I informed the House on 18 June 1991 that I have no plans to privatise the Air Navigation Services Office. That still remains the position.
