161 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Education (1) the number of students in each local authority area receiving a third level education grant, (2) the number receiving (a) full and (b) partial grants and (3) the cost to her Department of this provision; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
The information requested by the Deputy is not yet available to my Department for the 1991-92 academic year. However, the relevant details for the 1990-91 academic year are set out in a table which will be circulated in the Official Report. In the three year cases listed in the table where a breakdown of grant holders between full and partial grants is not yet available to my Department, the information is being compiled and will be forwarded to the Deputy as soon as possible.
The total cost to my Department in the financial year 1990 for this provision was £27.212 million.
