112 Mr. Connor asked the Minister for the Environment if he will sanction the plans for a new bridge at Athleague in County Roscommon which was submitted to his Department by Roscommon County Council; and if he intends to fund this project in the 1992 road works programme.
As this bridge is on a non-national road, responsibility for its improvement and maintenance rests with Roscommon County Council and the cost of such works falls to be financed by the authority from its own resources, supplemented by the discretionary grant provided annually by my Department. In these circumstances, sanction for the plans is not required.
