Vol. 412 No. 5

Written Answers. - Kildysart (Clare) Garda Station.

Donal Carey

Question:

144 Mr. Carey asked the Minister for Justice when the promised work on the Garda barracks, Kildysart, County Clare will commence as the local tidy town committee were severely criticised in the national competition because of the deplorable state of the Garda barracks.

The Office of Public Works have been asked to examine, as a matter of urgency, the possibility of finding a suitable building in Kildysart to rent for use as a Garda station in the short term. In the longer term, the intention is to construct a new Garda station on the site of the existing station. It is not possible to indicate, at this stage, when work on the project will commence. The Garda authorities are, however, making arrangements to have the exterior of the building painted, which will improve its appearance.
