Question:

205 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Education the reason for the delay in having a pension awarded to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny whose spouse is deceased since February, 1991 and where numerous requests have been made to her Department to have this pension awarded.

My Department have no record of correspondence from the person in question regarding the payment of a pension to him as the spouse of a former national school teacher.

An application form for spouses pension has now issued and, on receipt of the completed form, his claim will be promptly processed.
