Vol. 412 No. 5

Written Answers. - Decentralisation Programme.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

37 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Finance when a Government Department or part of a Department will be decentralised to Wexford; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

As the House will know, details of a further major extension to the decentralisation programme to six important provincial centres were announced on 12 June 1991. Wexford, I am pleased to say, was one of those centres selected.

Sections of the Revenue Commissioners and the Department of the Environment will transfer to Wexford. The time-scale for the completion of this extension to the programme has not, as yet, been finalised but it is envisaged that it should be nearing completion within two to three years.
