Question:

124 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the present position in relation to an application under the 1990 special beef premium scheme by a person (details supplied) in County Cork; and when the grant is expected to be paid.

This applicant has already been paid his grants under the 1990 special beef premium scheme. The payable order issued on 6 May 1991 and was cashed on 17 May 1991.

Michael Finucane

Question:

125 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a ewe premium grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick whose original application was rejected and who has since submitted supportive documentation on his claim and is awaiting an appropriate response; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

As the person named did not retain his ewes for 100 days from 2 March 1990 as required by the EC Regulations governing the 1989 and 1990 ewe premium schemes and as he presented ewes that had been already ear-notched for premium at his inspection, he cannot be paid premium for either of those years. This decision has already been conveyed to him through a person who approached my Department on his behalf in this matter.

As regards his 1991 ewe premium application, he was paid a first instalment of £934.03 on 91 ewes on 8 October 1991 and will be paid the remaining instalments as they fall due.
