Question:

76 Mr. Cosgrave asked the Minister for Finance if he will give details of the number of staff employed in his private office (1) on a permanent basis and (2) on a part-time basis; and if he will give details of the total costs for such staff for the years (a) 1970-75 (b) 1975-80 and (c) 1980 to date.

The following is the information requested in respect of my office for the years 1990 and 1991.

There were 21 staff employed in the Minister's office in 1990 at a total annual cost of £227,638.

There are 18 staff currently employed on a permanent basis in the Minister's office at a total annual cost of £237,330. There is no part-time staff employed in the office.

It is not possible to provide the information requested in respect of the years 1970-75, 1975-80 and 1980-89 in the time available.

77 Mr. Cosgrave asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will give details of the number of staff employed in his private office (1) on a permanent basis and (2) on a part-time basis; and if he will give details of the total costs for such staff for the years (a) 1970/1975 (b) 1975/1980 and (c) 1980 to date.

The number of permanent staff currently employed is ten. There are no part-time staff employed.

The information on total costs is not available for year prior to 1980. An estimate of the costs, at current salary scales, for the period since then is as follows:
