Vol. 413 No. 5

Written Answers. - Recruitment Training.

Theresa Ahearn

Question:

197 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Defence, if it is his Department's intention to re-establish Kickham Barracks, Clonmel, County Tipperary as a recruiting depot; if training for the Southern Command will be carried out at Kickham Barracks; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

In the interests of efficiency and economy the practice is to concentrate recruit training in a small number of locations. In that regard recruits for Kickham Barracks and all Southern Command units undergo a recruit training course at Collins Barracks, Cork or Murphy Barracks, Ballincollig.
