Vol. 414 No. 1

Written Answers. - Government Contracts.

Nuala Fennell

Question:

104 Mrs. Fennell asked the Minister for Health if she will outline in respect of her Department (1) the number of Government contracts which are in force, (2) whether all contracts are renewed each year and (3) if all contracts are granted as a result of tendering to the most competitive estimate.

It is assumed that the Deputy's question refers to normal supply and service contracts. The number of such contracts "which are in force" is 42 and these include printing contracts for the health promotion unit, hardware-software maintenance contracts for the information technology unit as well as the cleaning contracts for the Department. All of these contracts have been awarded following compliance with normal tendering procedures. None of the contracts is of a type which necessitate that they be renewed annually.
