Vol. 414 No. 4

Written Answers. - Convention on Transboundary Waste Movements.

John Bruton

Question:

158 Mr. J. Bruton, Mr. J. Mitchell, Miss Flaherty, Mr. Connor and Mr. Carey asked the Minister for the Environment if Ireland has yet ratified the Basel Convention on Transboundary Waste Movements.

Ireland proposes to ratify this Convention simultaneously with the European Communities and the majority of EC member states. An EC regulation for this purpose is being progressed urgently by the EC Environment Council.
