Vol. 414 No. 5

Written Answers. - Dalai Lama Visit.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

49 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he will use his influence to support the proposal of the Dalai Lama to visit Tibet; if he will endeavour to mobilise international support for the visit; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I would be happy to see the Dalai Lama able to visit Tibet under conditions in keeping with his status as a respected and revered religious leader. I am sure others in the international community would take a similar view.
