Vol. 414 No. 5

Written Answers. - Noise Level Protection.

Seán Barrett

Question:

84 Mr. S. Barrett asked the Minister for the Environment if there is legislation in place to protect a householder suffering a nuisance from noise which emanates from a central heating boiler in a next door neighbour's premises and, if so, whether this law is working effectively.

Controls in regard to neighbourhood noise are provided for under the Local Government (Planning and Development) Act, 1963, as amended. Provision to improve the law in relation to noise is included in the Environmental Protection Agency Bill, 1990.
