Vol. 414 No. 5

Written Answers. - Dundalk (Louth) School Accommodation.

Michael Bell

Question:

103 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Education the reason for the 12-year delay in providing proper school accommodation for An tAscal Fada, Dún Dealgan, Contae Lú; and when sanction will be given.

The provision of a new school for Scoil Chríost Rí, Dún Dealgan, Contae Lú has been approved and the preparation of tender documents for the project is in hands. These will be completed at the earliest possible date and the question of the invitation of tenders will then come for consideration in the context of the 1992 capital allocation for primary school building. I am not in a position at this stage, to say when building works will commence.

This school received permanent recognition from my Department in 1984. The Deputy will appreciate that the various formalities in relation to a building project i.e. site acquisition and architectural planning including local authority approval are necessarily time consuming.
