The Ceann Comhairle wishes to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given to him under Standing Order 20 (3) (a) and the name of the Member in each case: Deputy Nealon — the introduction of a means test for ESF grants for students entering Sligo Regional Technical College and other regional technical colleges next September and the fact that this decision would put third level education out of reach for many second level students; Deputy Gregory — following revelations made on recent television programmes, that steps be taken by the Minister for Foreign Affairs to bring about an independent inquiry into the events that resulted in the deaths of 13 people in January 1972; Deputy Ellis — the delay in making cattle headage payments, suckler cow premiums, and beef premiums to farmers under the 1991 schemes; Deputy Deenihan — the serious concern expressed by Irish immigrant agencies in the US because of the drastic decrease in funding from immigrant services; Deputy Moynihan — the urgency with regard to the installation of a dialysis unit at Tralee General Hospital, so as to remove the hardship on a number of patients currently obliged to travel to Cork three times each week; Deputy Sherlock — eligibility for primary school transport as it relates to closed schools amalgamated with another, specifically at Kilcredan, Ladybridge, Kilmoohan, Araglen and Coome Glenville where the Department are proposing to alter the conditions of eligibility as laid down in the primary school transport scheme; Deputy Mac Giolla — the need for the Minister for Energy to clarify the statement he issued yesterday on his instruction to the ESB regarding the use of their billing system for extending credit to customers buying appliances; Deputy Byrne — the problem being caused for both pupils and parents in the Crumlin, Drimnagh and Maryland districts by the decision of the Minister for Education not to approve the capital grants required to facilitate the amalgamation of the Marist Secondary School (Girls) and the CBS (Coláiste Caoimhín); Deputy Allen — the escalating crime in Cork city and county involving break ins, car stealing, assaults and personal attacks and the belief in Cork that the Garda do not have the resources or manpower to deal with the problems; Deputy J. Higgins — the need for the Minister for Agriculture and Food to ensure that milk quotas relinquished under the current EC milk quota buy out scheme are re-distributed in full within the co-op areas in which they are being relinquished.

The Ceann Comhairle has selected for discussion the matters raised by Deputies Moynihan, Nealon and Sherlock.
