Question:

75 Mr. Farrelly asked the Taoiseach if he will give details of the exact number of unemployed (a) males and (b) females in each county between the ages of (1) 18 to 40 and (2) 40 to 65 years, who are eligible for work; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Taoiseach

An age breakdown of the live register is compiled in respect of the third Friday of April and October each year. The most recent data available relate to 9 April 1991 when there were 244,475 persons on the live register of which 166,290 were males and 78,185 were females. Data for October 1991 will be published in the near future.

The precise age breakdown requested by the Deputy is not compiled. The following table provides the nearest age breakdown available.
