Vol. 415 No. 4

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

Michael Joe Cosgrave

Question:

126 Mr. Cosgrave asked the Minister for Social Welfare when social welfare assistance will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Meath; and the reason such delay has occurred in granting payment in this case.

The person concerned applied for unemployment benefit on 29 October 1991. Her application was disallowed on the grounds that she is not available for and is not genuinely seeking employment. She has appealed this decision to the independent social welfare appeals office. Her appeal was received on 16 December 1991. The case was referred to an appeals officer who has decided to hold an oral hearing of the appeal. The person concerned will be notified of the date, time and venue of this hearing.
