Vol. 415 No. 7

Written Answers. - Proposed Taxi Plates Draw.

Richard Bruton

Question:

120 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for the Environment if, in light of the experience of the recent draw for taxi plates in Dublin, he is considering any amendments to a future draw which might include the following changes (1) the holding of the draw in public, (2) restrictions on the possibility of existing plate owners submitting applications in the names of other family members and (3) earmarking a particular number for allocation among existing registered co-drivers.

The conditions and procedures which should apply to the issue of future licences for small public service vehicles generally is being considered by an interdepartmental committee established to review the laws applying to the operation of such vehicles. I expect the report of the committee to be submitted to me by early March.
