Written Answers. - Milk Quota Appeals.

Question:

205 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will give details of, (1) the total number of applicants of hardship cases under the milk quota appeal tribunal, (2) the amount of milk which will be allocated, (3) the number which were, (a) successful and (b) unsuccessful and (4) the average quota allocated.

The Milk Quota Appeals Tribunal have received applications from some 5,500 producers for additional quota from the special reserve which was earmarked for hardship cases. Almost 1,800 producers were allocated additional quota with some 3,700 applicants being therefore unsuccessful. The total allocated was 1.1 million gallons and the average allocation was 650 gallons.
