Vol. 415 No. 7

Written Answers. - Clifden (Galway) Garda Station.

Pádraic McCormack

Question:

50 Mr. McCormack asked the Minister for Justice if he will outline the plans, if any, for the erection of a new Garda station at Clifden, County Galway, as the present station has been condemned by the Department of Health; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Garda authorities are aware of the unsatisfactory condition of this station building, but inform me that it is not correct to say that it has been condemned by the health authorities.

The intention is to build an extension and refurbish the existing Garda station in Clifden and the Office of Public Works have been asked to draw up plans for these works. While it is not possible to say at this stage when work will commence, there will be no avoidable delay.
