174 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce when he will be introducing legislation to implement the EC Directive in respect of general product safety as agreed on 15 October 1991; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
At its meeting on 15 October 1991, the EC Consumer Affairs Council reached agreement in principle on a draft Product Safety Directive. In accordance with procedures, the draft Directive has been referred to the European Parliament for comment before final adoption by the EC Council. Pending adoption of the Directive, it is not possible, at this stage, to be specific about the implementation date.
