327 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for the Environment if he intends to introduce legislation to implement the directive on nitrates which was agreed by the Council of Ministers on 14 June 1991; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
I refer to the reply to Question No. 170 of 10 December 1991. Suitable measures are currently being developed to secure implementation of this directive. The provisions of the Local Government (Water Pollution) Acts, 1977 and 1990, will be used, where appropriate, to give effect to these measures.
