Question:52 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for Defence if his Department is still leasing three SIAI Marchetti trainer planes; and, if so, if he will outline the terms of the lease.
Written Answers. - Air Corps Trainer Planes.
Three Marchetti aircraft were leased by my Department for a short period in 1991 and were used by the Air Corps for primary pilot training and assessment. The aircraft were leased on the basis of a fixed charge per flying hour.
Following completion of the training programme the aircraft were returned to the owner. The question of the lease of aircraft for a similar training programme in 1992 is at present under consideration by my Department.
