Vol. 416 No. 1

Written Answers. - Departmental Estimates.

Seán Ryan

Question:

96 Mr. Ryan asked the Minister for Defence if he will outline the nature of subhead Q in the 1992 Estimates; the reason for the substantial increase in the 1991 provisional out-turn; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Subhead Q of the Defence Estimates 1992 covers the cost of drugs, medical requisites and equipment for the Defence Forces. The cost of treatment afforded to members of the Defence Forces in civilian hospitals is also provided for in this subhead.

The 1992 provision represents an increase of £60,000, approximately, on the provisional outturn figure for 1991 to cater for the purchase of additional medical equipment.
