Gerry Reynolds

Question:

186 Mr. G. Reynolds asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim will receive his headage payment.

This applicant has already been paid his grants under the 1991 cattle and equines headage and suckler cow premium schemes. He did not apply for grants under the 1991 special beef premium scheme.

Gerry Reynolds

Question:

187 Mr. G. Reynolds asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim will receive headage payment.

This person's application for grants under the 1990 cattle and equine headage, sheep headage, suckler cow and special beef premium schemes are being processed at present and payments will issue shortly. He has been deemed ineligible for grants under the 1991 scheme as he failed to maintain the number of ewes on which he applied for premium. He is not an applicant for grants under the 1991 sheep headage, ewe premium and special beef premium schemes. His 1991 suckler cow premium application is being processed at present and payment will issue shortly.

My Department are awaiting documentation in respect of lands rented by him and when this is received his application for grants under the 1991 cattle and equines headage scheme will be considered further.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

188 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason beef premium payments were not made to a person (details supplied) in County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter having regard to the fact that the one animal incorrectly numbered was not the fault of the herd owner.

The person named applied for premium on an animal which had qualified for premium in 1990 and cannot be paid any premium in 1991. A task force has been set up in my Department to examine, among other matters, problems in the special beef premium scheme. The task force is due to report by the end of this month. Any recommendations it makes in regard to applications which contain errors will be fully considered.
