17 Mr. Lowry asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications if she has any plans to introduce a financial programme for hotel refurbishment and rebuilding outside the greater urban areas of the country; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 17, 21, 47 and 58 together.

I have no plans at present to introduce a grant scheme for hotel refurbishment and rebuilding, outside the greater urban areas of the country.
However, investment in a range of accommodation, including the construction of hotels, qualifies for tax relief at preferential rates under the capital allowances facility up to the end of the current tax year.
