54 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications if she will outline her views on the proposed increase of 4.5 per cent in air fares between Ireland and continental Europe from 1 April 1992; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The proposed increase referred to by the Deputy was one of a series of increases sanctioned by my predecessor late last year. Continental European air fares were previously increased in January 1991. In my view a 4.5 per cent increase over a fifteen month period is a reasonable one.
