Vol. 416 No. 2

Written Answers. - Curragh (Kildare) Military Hospital.

Emmet Stagg

Question:

63 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Defence if, in view of the precedent set in the use of military premises for civilian purposes, he will make the Curragh military hospital available for use by the general public in the knowledge that only one of the seven wards in the hospital is in use, while six further wards which are fully equipped lie idle, and also in view of the shortage of hospital beds for Kildare patients in Dublin, and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The military hospital at the Curragh Camp continues to be required for military purposes and there are no proposals at present to make its facilities available generally.
