Vol. 416 No. 6

Written Answers. - Council of Europe Anti-Doping Convention.

Jim O'Keeffe

Question:

272 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Education whether, in the light of the fact that the Olympic Games will be held in Barcelona in July 1992 he will co-operate with the Council of Europe initiative to have the anti-doping convention approved and ratified before the Olympic Games begin.

The Government has agreed that the Anti-Doping Convention of the Council of Europe should be signed, subject to ratification. The necessary measures are now being taken to enable this to be done. It is expected that all necessary arrangements for the signing of the convention will have been made prior to the Olympic Games.
