Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given to the Ceann Comhairle under Standing Order 20 (3) (a) and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Gregory: The proposals to provide a central incinerator for hospital waste for all Dublin hospitals at James Street Hospital in Dublin 8 and residents' concerns at these proposals; (2) Deputy Taylor: The report on motor insurance costs and incidental matters issued by the Irish Insurance Federation on 24 February 1992 on which the Minister for Industry and Commerce made a statement; (3) Deputy Browne (Carlow-Kilkenny): The delay in the introduction of regulations to implement the Abattoirs Act, 1988, as promised on several occasions in the House, and which has resulted in Carlow County Council paying £75,000 with no powers of recoupment; (4) Deputy Moynihan: The serious concern of the Kenmare Environmental Group, relating to the possible dangerous consequences of salmon farming in the Kenmare area and its possible damage to the local tourist industry; (5) Deputy McCartan: The housing crisis in the city of Dublin and the need for the Minister for the Environment to meet with the Housing Committee of Dublin Corporation to review the allocation to the city for housing construction this year; (6) Deputy Rabbitte: The announcement by the Minister for Health to scale back the proposed Tallaght Regional Hospital to a 350-bed unit and the implications of this decision for the catchment area to be served by the hospital; (7) Deputy Byrne: The serious concern of residents in the community surrounding St. James Hospital Dublin at the plans of the hospital to build a large central incinerator for the burning of hospital waste from all the city hospitals; (8) Deputy McEllistrim: If the Minister for the Environment will make a grant available to the central water scheme, Farmers Bridge, in order to start Stage 5 of the group water scheme to take a water supply to Kielduff, Tralee; (9) Deputy Gerry Reynolds: If the Minister for Education will clarify the position regarding students who wish to repeat sixth class at primary school level and in particular the situation appertaining at Drumshanbo national school, County Leitrim; (1) Deputy Michael Creed: If the Minister for Industry and Commerce accepts that there is a concerted effort by the financial institutions to lower beef prices in view of their current control of that sector; and if he will investigate the matter in the context of competition and monopoly legislation as it is having a severe impact on the beef industry and in particular for winter fatteners; (11) Deputy Gerry O'Sullivan: The dramatic increase in housing subsidies paid by the Southern Health Board last year; (12) Deputy Austin Deasy: The announcement by Teagasc that the former director of ERAD is to be director designate of Teagasc to be appointed sometime over the next five years; (13) Deputy Enright: The serious problem in second level education in Portlaoise, County Laois and the necessity for planned improvements, development and urgent attention to meet the educational requirements in this expanding town; (14) Deputy Flaherty: If the Department of Energy will consider direct support for the Oileán Chléire wind project to prevent its imminent dismantling; (15) Deputy Kemmy: The 70 boarded-up houses at Glenagross Park, Moyross, County Limerick, and the need for a 24-hour Garda presence on the estate in order to end the vandalism and anti-social behaviour there; (16) Deputy Ryan: The urgent need for a post-primary school for Castleknock, Dublin 15, given the recent decision of the Minister for Education that the area did not warrant one at this stage; and (17) Deputy Vincent Brady: If the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications will convey to the RTE authority, the serious concern of this House with regard to Tuesday nights edition of “Today Tonight” which endeavoured to place a person on trial in public and that appropriate action be taken to ensure that there will be no repetition in relation to any similar matters in future.
