Vol. 417 No. 3

Written Answers. - County Louth Road Accidents.

Dermot Ahern

Question:

82 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to the fact that County Louth has the worst road traffic accident figures for the country; if he has any plans to help rectify this problem; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am aware that there is a high incidence of road accidents in County Louth. In view of this fact, a special month-long road safety project, for the Louth area, was launched on 3 March 1992 by the National Safety Council, as part of this year's national road safety campaign. The objective of the project is to give road safety issues priority attention and publicity. The effects will be monitored in the context of the overall road safety campaign.
