Question:

84 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give details of the powers he has to prevent the pollution of the air by toxic and hazardous chemical emissions.

Comprehensive powers to control and prevent air pollution are provided in the Air Pollution Act, 1987. These powers are mainly exercisable, in relation to particular emissions, by local authorities.
