Vol. 417 No. 6

Written Answers. - Taxi Plates.

Richard Bruton

Question:

125 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give details of the system which has been put in place to ensure that the new taxi plates issued under the recent competition are only used in accordance with the specifications laid out in the regulations; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Public service vehicle licences generally, including taxi licences, are issued by the Garda Commissioner. Under the regulations currently in force it is a matter for the Commissioner to ensure that the provisions of the regulations in relation to the operation of all public service vehicles are complied with and enforced. I have no direct function in relation to this matter.
