Vol. 417 No. 6

Written Answers. - Protection of Cyclists.

Roger T. Garland

Question:

133 Mr. Garland asked the Minister for the Environment if, in view of the acknowledged dangers roundabouts present to cyclists, he will outline the measures which are being taken to protect cyclists at roundabout interchanges on the northern cross route.

I understand from Dublin County Council, which is responsible for the northern cross route project, that roundabouts designed to internationally recognised standards will be located at the motorway/dual carriageway intersections. No special measures are proposed in relation to cyclists at these roundabouts.
