Written Answers. - County Louth Local Authorities.

Dermot Ahern

Question:

Dermot Ahern

Question:

19 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for the Environment if he will allay the fears of people in Drogheda, County Louth, by confirming that it is not planned to withdraw borough status from Drogheda Corporation and that if anything happens in the future in local government reform Drogheda may very well find its position enhanced; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 35 and 139 together.

Proposals for changes in the status, structure or area of any borough, urban district or town are matters which must be considered in the context of the review of sub-county local government which is currently being carried out.
