Vol. 417 No. 6

Written Answers. - Cork Bridges Refurbishment Funding.

Gerry O'Sullivan

Question:

63 Mr. G. O'Sullivan asked the Minister for the Environment if, in view of the independent consultants report which corresponds with the Cork Corporation City Engineer's report that urgent remedial action is needed to refurbish both Parliament and South Gate bridges in Cork, he will reconsider allocating special grants to carry out this vital work; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Special grants of £140,000 for Parliament bridge and £60,000 for South Gate bridge were recently notified to Cork Corporation. The grants are intended to meet 75 per cent of the expenditure to be incurred by the local authority on the bridges this year.
