Vol. 417 No. 7

Written Answers. - Twinning of Cities and Towns.

Bernard Allen

Question:

161 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline the finance, if any, which is available to local authorities to develop twinning of cities and towns in Ireland with their European counterparts.

Decisions relating to involvement in twinning arrangements, including any financial provision, are at the discretion of the local authorities. I understand that financial assistance for twinning projects may be available from the EC Commission in certain circumstances. I have no function in that regard.
