Vol. 417 No. 7

Written Answers. - Transport Allowance for Medical Card Holders.

Michael Moynihan

Question:

24 Mr. Moynihan asked the Minister for Health if he will recommend to all health boards that an adequate transport allowance would be provided for medical card holders obliged to travel long distances for clinic and/or hospital treatment.

Under the 1970 Health Act the health boards make whatever arrangements are considered necessary for the transport of patients, depending on the circumstances of the person concerned, the resources available to the boards and the many competing demands being made on these resources.
