Vol. 417 No. 9

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

Theresa Ahearn

Question:

326 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary is not receiving social welfare payment; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The person concerned has been in receipt of disability benefit since 21 June 1991.

Following an examination on 5 March 1992 by a medical referee who expressed the opinion that she is now capable of work, a deciding officer has disallowed her claim with effect from 13 March 1992.

She was notified in writing of this decision on 6 March 1992 and of her right of appeal.

William Cotter

Question:

327 Mr. Cotter asked the Minister for Social Welfare when a disability benefit will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Monaghan; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The person concerned claimed disability benefit on 20 January 1992.

According to my Department's records she does not satisfy the contribution conditions for disability benefit on the basis of her Irish insurance record. However she has stated that she also worked in Great Britain from 29 April 1990 to 10 January 1992. If this is so, these contributions could give her title to benefit under European Community legislation.

The Department of Social Security in Great Britain has been asked to furnish details of her 1990-91 contribution record. When this information is received, a decision will be made on her claim.
