Question:

64 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Health if he will outline by (a) age, (b) gender and (c) speciality, the total number of people awaiting admission to the Regional Hospital, Limerick, in the Mid-Western Health Board area; if a reduction in the waiting list for hospital admissions is expected following the recent updating of all hospital waiting lists; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

While the data collected by the Mid-Western Health Board is not in the format requested by the Deputy, the most recent figures available (11 March 1992) are as follows: Total number on waiting list, 1,887.

Speciality breakdown: Surgery, 465; Gynaecology, 375; Dental, 17; ENT, 133; Ophthalmology, 443; Orthopaedics, 454.
