Vol. 418 No. 4

Written Answers. - County Kerry School Transport.

Dick Spring

Question:

109 Mr. Spring asked the Minister for Education if his attention has been drawn to the severe overcrowding on school buses in County Kerry; and if he will confirm that the insurance cover applies even in the event of such overcrowding.

It is the responsibility of Bus Éireann, the agency appointed by Government to administer the school transport scheme, to ensure that vehicles are loaded and insured in accordance with the legal requirements.

If the Deputy has evidence of overloading on a particular vehicle in County Kerry he may wish to bring it to my attention and I will refer the matter to Bus Éireann for investigation.
